If you live in Prince William County -- Meet Your New Neighbor!

The Prince William Board of County Supervisors is considering the most dramatic change in its land use policy in three decades, and if five members of the Board agree it will jettison the long-standing Rural Crescent policy that protected the rural character of our community and preserved of some of the most pristine land areas in the County.

One data center project proposed along Pageland Lane, called the Prince William Digital Gateway, will pave over historically sensitive battlegrounds, likely desecrate graves of soldiers and enslaved African Americans, and forever destroy the view shed of the Manassas National Battlefield Park.

On the east side of the County, the industrial corridor roads required for the construction of the dozens of data center projects already approved for construction will create the Outer Beltway for truckers to take the short cut from I-95 up into the Dulles Airport corridor.

Gridlocked traffic; 18 wheeler noise; unsafe roads; a prescription for disaster for Prince William families.

The Board of County Supervisors claims they have officially dropped the Bi-County Parkway from their transportation plan, but every one of them knows the data centers will require the Big Daddy of roads -- the Outer Beltway!

The data center building spree in Prince William County will threaten the quality of water in the Occoquan watershed that provides water to tens of thousands of homes in eastern Prince William and Fairfax counties.

Please follow this blog to hear more -- lots more -- about the threat to our water supply. It is serious stuff.

Having a data center as your neighbor means a number of things:

  • NOISE -- LOTS OF IT -- 24 HOURS A DAY 7 DAYS A WEEK -- IT NEVER ENDS

Here is a link to the sounds of a normal data center in operation -- and this is just one building:

If you want to torture yourself and listen to a full hour of this noise, click this link:

1 Hour of Data Center Noise

  • Your home is in the middle of an industrial complex with the horrible view of a 50 - 70 foot data center building belching steam and constantly rumbling. Here is a real life picture of a Loudoun County data center literally in the back yard -- and believe it -- it could be your back yard.

All of this is infuriating.

But it's real -- as in painfully real.

So join us. Engage with us in fighting for maintaining the quality of life for families, protecting against traffic gridlock, and stopping the reduction in the value of our homes.

  1. Chair Ann Wheeler's actions show us she cares about Data Centers, but I do not see that she cares about ordinary citizens of the county. This is NOT the leader we need in PWC. Recall her!!

    1. I agree that she should be recalled. However, I cannot in good conscience sign a petition to recall Pete Candland. If their names are on the same petition, then perhaps there should be two separate petitions.

  2. This is breaking my heart. After having moved 19 times in 30 years, my husband and I settled here in Oak Valley, where we have lived for 20 years. We chose Oak Valley because it was in such a rural setting. Unfortunately, my husband passed away in 2020. Having to move from the house that we made our home would break my heart all over again. How can there be so much money for data centers when some people don’t have enough money for food? This is a very sad commentary on Prince William County.

  3. THIS MUST BE STOPPED. IT WILL DESTROY OUR QUALITY OF LIFE, OUR HOMES WILL DEPRECIATE SIGNIFICANTLY, THE NOISE & EFFECT ON THE WATERSHED WILL BE MASSIVE. ANN WHEELER & CREW COULD CARE LESS ABOUT ITS RESEDENTS. SHE & THE REST WILL LINE THEIR POCKETS & BE OUT OF PWC. WE WHO CANT MOVE WILL BE STUCK. PWC USED TO BE A BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO LIVE, THATS WHY WE & OUR FAMILIES MOVED HERE. TAKE A RIDE DOWN HORNBACKER & SEE WHAT WILL SURROUND YOUR NEIGHBORHOODS, HOMES,SCHOOLS ETC.. NOT TO MENTION LONG TERM HEATH CONCERNS…STAND & FIGHT THIS. ITS OUR QUALITY OF LIFE WE ARE GOING TO LOOSE IF ALL THIS PASSES… DONT LET LTHEM FOOL YOU. THEY WILL LIE & SUGAR COAT IT.
TALK TO THOSE WHO NO THE TRUTH.
